MOUNT KILIMANJARO CLIMBING FOR CHARITY
n
Climbing for Charity is a project with the intention of supporting Ikirwa school, located in Midawe (a town near Arusha). Ikirwa school is a private primary school founded in 2013. The benefit of Ikirwa being a private school is that in comparison to public schools in Tanzania it gives the children an improved chance of education due to the fact that the classes are significantly smaller (between 10-25 children) than in public schools and therefore creates an enhanced and focused learning environment. Keeping in mind the positive effects of this controlled learning environment, Ikirwa school being a private school is reliant on continuous donations to be open to as many children as possible.
n
Neeko Tours organizes a Mount Kilimanjaro climb for charity which will aim to empower underprivileged children in the village of Midawe and other surrounding villages. This charity-event will enable children from poor families to access quality education in form of Ikirwa school.
1. CLIMBING KILIMANJARO FOR CHARITY TO SUPPORT UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN TO GET EDUCATION:
n
The charity’s main focus is to help children who are living in the poor families and can hardly access their basic needs
n
When a climber opts to climb with Neeko Tours, he/she invests in the community through fundraising for charity and has the opportunity to either support the building of the dining hall and class rooms at Ikirwa school or he/she can sponsor a child at Ikirwa school by covering its school fees.
n
In order to support the school and its children ideally the fundraising can be done through family, friends, colleagues etc. of course everyone who had a part in the fundraising is more than welcome to come and visit Ikirwa school!
n
From that raised amount Neeko Tours will just subtract the cost covering the climb of Mount Kilimanjaro and all the “profit” will go straight towards Ikirwa school.
2. KILIMANJARO FUNDRAISING FOR THE DINING HALL AND CLASSROOM:
n
If climbers can verify that they have raised a minimum of USD 20 (or currency equivalent) per climber for Ikirwa school or one of its students per day spent on the mountain, we (Neeko Tours) will ourselves refund you the same amount (USD 20 per fundraising person) to you climbers and subtract that from the minimum costs of covering the climb. Simply put: If a climber has managed to raise at least 140 USD (spread over a 7 day tour à 20 USD per day) Neeko Tours will subtract that amount from the minimum cost to cover the climb, thereby making it cheaper for the climber
n
3. KILIMANJARO FUNDRAISNG FOR THE CLASSROOMS
n
In the case of a very successful fundraising campaign (for example 10,000 USD) for either the class room, the dining hall or the sponsorship of a student(s), this would be paid to the charity you target. We, Neeko Tours, would invoice 2,400 USD as a climb cost and donate the remaining 7,600 USD in addition of the 140 USD from Neeko Tours to the charitable cause.
