Ikirwa School is a hidden gem situated in the foothills of Mt. Meru which was built on a dream and a conversation over a campfire. What makes Ikirwa so special is the spirit of the children and staff. The local villagers came together to help support the dream, of one of their own, to build a school that would educate the children of the impoverished community. That dream came to fruition in 2011 and the enthusiasm and dedication to educating the young people of the local areas is echoed throughout the campus. Enjoy a day on their playing field, jumping rope in a courtyard or participating in a civics or math lesson in one of their many classrooms. If you’re not too tired from enjoying time with the students then we would recommend ending your trip with a stroll to the Meru Waterfall. Less than 1km from school this enjoyable scenic walk along a winding trail ends at a stunning pool of water fed by a magnificent waterfall. Although the falls do not permit swimming and luxuriating, because of its necessity as a water source for Arusha Urban Water Supply Authority, it is spectacular to look upon.{Discuss this with Gasper} only those visiting the school.
